Western Promise... the legendary Wessy P's known to their hardcore fans.
While not many earn the term legendary, this band certainly do. Wild 2nd generation Liverpool-Irish boys, who walked
it like they talked it. Stage invasions riots and fights at live gigs were common - the band right in the thick of it. John
Mac in particular, this band meant it.

A close kinship with The Clash was struck up with Mac becoming very close to Joe 'RIP' Strummer, the band played
with The Clash on Serveral occasions and toured with Joe on the infamous
Rock Against the Rich Tour in 88/89.
They headlined their biggest gig with Billy Bragg and the Icicle Works at Liverpool's People's Festival in '85 with over
20,000 people in attendance. Also playing with the La's, The Christians, The Farm, Paul Weller, Madness, and many
more.

The
John Peel Session (Featured here) was the fastest reported session ever. (And John Mac's street savvy came
in handy wheen Peelie had locked himself out of his car - John Mac opened it!! To Peel's amazement = 'Scousers!'
Mac went on to form stepping Razor and signed to Rought Trade, also forming The Ministry of Love with Eugene
'rodman' Lange of Wah! fame. When Mac moved to London he formed Rumbletrain and played with Noel Gallagher
(with whom he struck up a lasting friendship) Pete Townsend (ditto) Dodgy, Ian Broudie, Terry Hall, Ocean colour
scene, and the Boo Radleys.

Mac formed the
Rock The Dock movement in the mid-90's, supporting the striking Liverpool dockworkers and
organised with Creation Records the release of a fundrasing CD with Oasis, Paul Weller, The Cast, Primal Scream
and Beth Orton among many others. John raised almost £90,000 for the Dockers, with the CD, live gigs up and down
the country and organising stars to sell the Dockers 'CK' t-shirts. Mac recently reformed the band and released
Justice (For the 96)' for the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and is currently working on new material in the studio.
Turn On, Tune In, Keep On Burning, This is Rock And Roll.
